Enjoy everything that Zeeuws-Vlaanderen has to offer. In addition to the peace, the sea and the beach in Zeeuws-Vlaanderen, there is also a lot to experience in the cultural field, both on the Dutch and Belgian side of the border. Do you want to soak up some culture and go shopping? Then the cities of Antwerp, Ghent and Bruges guarantee a successful day. In the city centre you can explore Oud-Terneuzen. If you prefer a day in nature, you can, for example, go to the nature development area in the Margarethapolder near Terneuzen.
After all these outdoor activities, you can swim a few laps in the indoor pool and relax in the Churchill Hotel's sauna.
The polders of Zeeuws-Vlaanderen are fantastic for beautiful cycling and walking tours. The Western Scheldt cycle route Terneuzen-Perkpolder (42 km) is recommended, with beautiful panoramic views over the Western Scheldt. From the Western Scheldt dike you can take a 25-minute walk towards the city centre of Terneuzen. A walk through Oud-Terneuzen, where the history can be read from the old houses and streets, is recommended. Via the 'Fietsroutenetwerk' app you can find several routes in the area, where the colleague hotel, the Churchill hotel, can be used as a starting point.
The School Museum in Oud-Terneuzen, opened in 1997, shows a collection of school supplies from the 19th and early 20th century. In the impressive Flood Museum in Ouwerkerk you will learn everything about the Flood Disaster of 1953. You will also see how our country is forever fighting the water. Another interesting museum about water and the sea is the Maritiem MuZEEum in Vlissingen. In this beautiful museum you will experience the turbulent past of Zeeland and the meaning of the sea for the people of Zeeland. The Zeeuws Museum, housed in an Abbey in the heart of Middelburg, has an enormous collection of Zeeland heritage.
Close to the hotel is the Scheldetheater. On the stage are well-known companies all year round with performances for adults and children. The nightlife street of Terneuzen is the Nieuwstraat, with nice cafés and restaurants.
Golf course “De Woeste Kop” has been located on the “Smitsschorre” terrain in Axel since 1986, 15 minutes from Terneuzen. It was created by reclaiming soil from the canal from Terneuzen to Ghent, which was widened in the 1960s. It is a challenging course with a park-like character. The course, both the fairways and the greens, are excellently maintained.
